Messerschmitt Bf-109X. Radial engine version of the Bf-109 series. Originally designed to compete with the Focke-Wulf Fw-190A, the first prototype was powered by BMW 139 (P&W Twin Wasp copy) and later version (pictured) with the BMW 801, same unit that powered the production version of the Fw-190. Also considered for export, including Japan but cancelled when Fw-190 was redesigned and placed on series production, as a Bf-109 back-up.
