Ég fór náttla í Kolaportið um helgina og keypti öll Þau US AIRFORCE merki sem ég fann til að sauma þvers og kruss á nýja US AIRFORCE samfestinginn minn!!!! :D:D
Þannig að ég verð einn með mína amerísku stríðsfugla á Melgerðismelum í mínum US AIRFORCE samfesting umsetinn af þýskum stríðsfuglum og flumönnum þeirra :S JÆKS!

How much does it cost?

That depends on several factors

- Time….. to draw up parts in CAD is a time consuming business…and time is money! So if you can supply CAD drawings (see specifications) then it will save a lot of time and ultimately save you money THE CUTTING ITSELF IS THE QUICKEST AND CHEAPEST PART OF THE OPERATION!

- Materials….. cost of materials varies –depending on the choice of balsa, ply or even plastics etc thickness …

- Quantity – once the job is set up it is quite easy (and so relatively cheaper) to repeat the cut and so repeats are much cheaper than the first one. So 10 sets are much cheaper than one and so on.

How long does it take?

Again this depends on many things

For example – a customer has sent us completed “Laser-Ready” drawings by email at 9am, then we have been able to cut them straight away and the parts were sent out the same day!

This was because

a) we had the proper “Laser-Ready” drawings to work from,

b) the materials were in stock

c) the machine time had been scheduled for the run

If designing your own formers and or ribs– speak to us first about materials – with laser cutting we can make 3mm ply formers and ribs that are stronger, lighter (and much better looking) than even liteply!

What format should I send drawings in?

The less work we have to do on the drawings, the less it will cost you.

a) Drawings should be in AutoCAD .dxf format r12

b) Lines should be “joined poly-lines” – separate lines are cut separately and so may cause
errors if not joined correctly-

c) accurate – the laser will cut very accurately (0.02mm) so make sure your drawings are accurate

d) Every little speck is cut – so make sure the drawings are clean of speckles or old lines or duplicates etc.

e) if drawings require alteration or “cleaning up” this time will be chargeable

"Paper Plans" can be sent to us by post, we will then re-draw and digitise them and if desired, re-design them for you, ready to be cut.

if you "... don’t know how to make drawings or cannot use CAD….."

We can have the drawings made for you – but be aware that this may cost extra –if a larger run is planned this may be worth doing to get the drawings right – otherwise talk to your friends – someone you know may know CAD and be able to do the drawings for you.

Svona CNC (Computer Numerical Control) skurður er ekki ný uppfinning. Um 1970 fór ég ásamt skólafélögum í Lundi að skoða skipasmíðastöðina Kockums í Málmey. Þar notuðu þeir svona tækni til að skera út úr stórum þykkum stálplötum risastórar plötur í byrðing skipa, og alls konar reglulega og óreglulega hluti. Allt í mælikvarðanum 1:1. Í stað leysigeisla voru notaðir venjulegir gas/súr brennarar. Hægt var að láta spíssana hallast til að fá V, Y eða X skurð til að auðvelda suðu.

Þetta er ekki ósvipað risastórum plotter sem á árum áður var notaður til að tússa vinnuteikningar. Tveir skrefmótorar (step motor) hreyfa pennann (leysigeislann, gaslogann) nákvæmlega í rétt XY hnit samkvæmt fyrirmælum tölvunnar. Þriðji mótorinn gat lyft pennanum upp/niður. Svona skrefmótorar eru til í öllum stærðum, allt frá örsmáum í arbandsúrum upp í risastóra í málmskurðartækjum í skipasmíðjum.

Þegar ég hef lokið mér af í flugskólanum með aðstoð góðra manna, þá skal ég koma með stolti og hjálpa þér í slagnum. Þar sem ég heiti Ófeigur Örn þá held ég að það sé við hæfi að ég setji mitt eigið merki á stríðsfuglana mína! Hvernig er þetta?
